Opportunity

Posted by evrrp on April 28, 2010 at 10:05 PM Comments comments (0)
I met a man not long ago who told me a story about a very trying time in his life.  He had recently lost his job and was having a hard time find new employment.

No matter what he did he just could not find a way to make things better.  He was close to completely giving up. Then during a random conversation while in line at the post office he found that he and the man behind him had something in common. The man behind him was John.  They both liked to fish.  John  had planed on taking his boat out that afternoon.  Unfortunately  his son, who was supposed to go with him, could not make it.

Then he made an offer" Say if you're free would you like to go?"

Neither man had known each other until just a few minutes before.  Since he was not working and going fishing would probably take his mind of of things he said sure.

When they finished their business they planed to meet at the pier in two hours.

When my friend got to the pier, he knew he had taken a wrong turn.  He asked around to see if he could find his way.  To his surprise he was in the right place.

But his just could not be right he thought. You see all of the boats where he was were not your ordinary fishing boats.

They were yachts.

He later found out that John was the owner of a large company.  As successful as John was he was still just a guy who loved fishing, and being around other passionate fishermen.

At the end of the day the two became great friends, and a job offer was made. And a challenging situation was made into a great future.

You see there is opportunity everywhere.  Often it is right in front of us.  We just have to be willing to take a chance and explore our world.  You never know what you will find.

This past Sunday I meet a great woman named Jennifer.  She struck up a conversation with me and flawlessly used a number of the principles of success outlined in Make One Million Dollars in one Year and Create Your Own Economy.

She was brilliant in her use of one of the best principles for achieving success in all areas of life.  And I must say she was smart.  You could tell that she is ready to make her mark in the world.

No matter what our situation in life may be, there are always opportunities for greatness.  I could see it in her eyes. She is ready to get everything she wants out of life.  And I am happy to help her.

We had to cut our conversation short but I look forward to talking to her again, and helping her achieve even greater success.

Learn and apply the principles of success and you'll find opportunity everywhere.  Even where you least expect it.

Have you thought about your plan for the New Year?

Today marks the end of 2009.  Tomorrow we begin a new journey. The question is where do you want your new journey to take you?  Many people use this time to set New Year’s Resolutions.

The problem with this is they are usually made on the fly with little thought or planning.  They are made with a process that is much like impulse buying at the grocery store.  You see something good and buy it, because of a strong emotional reaction.  Often once the emotions wear off negative thoughts begin to form.

So Resolutions feel good at the time they are made, but like lighting a match they often burn out quickly.

So how can you make sure 2010 gives you exactly what you want?

First don't make a resolution set a goal.  But not just any kind of goal.  Set an enormous goal. A goal that will require you to make a real change, a change that will require commitment, and effort.

Then sit down and write out a plan with the specific steps you need in order to accomplish your goal.

The simple act of writing out your plan with the specific steps uses one of the most important principles of success.

Now I must warn you, this process is not for everyone.  Only if you really want something better in life should you embark on this journey. Only if YOU want to control your fate.

If that is not the case then this process may not be for you.

To help you understand the principles of success go to the books section and order your own copy the book of success principles- Make OneMillion Dollars in One Year.

You'll learn how to set an enormous goal and what you must do in order to achieve it.

Have a great and wonderful New Year.

Who do you know?

There is an old saying- It's not what you know it's who you know.

So how do you get to know the who's you need to know?

The answer might surprise you.  It's not hard at all.  You just need to go to where the people you want to know are at.

But where are all the people you want to know?  Try trade shows, Association meetings, Trade clubs, or public educatioal  seminars.  The people you want to know are everywhere.  So why are you not with them.

Maybe you don't think you can talk to strangers.

I've got news for you.  Yes you can.  As a matter of fact you have done so before.  If you have even one friend you can meet the people who know what you want to know. You can meet the people who can help you change your life. And you can find new ways to create your own economy.

SPX EXPO

I was at a great show last week where people who know what they want were putting forth the effort to achieve their goals.

The SPX Expo is a small press convention where independent comic book and graphic novel creators can sell their works to people with a broad appreciation for great and interesting stories and art.

Some of the exhibiters are full time artist, writers, and entrepreneurs. Some are part time creators. All are passionate about what they are doing.

Many people talk about living their dreams. But far to often all they do is talk. Some of the creators at the show have years of experience. Some only months. But they all have one very powerful trait in common. They are all doing something about achieving the success they desire in life.

Something I noticed about many of the exhibitors is that they used one of the most powerful principles from Make One Million Dollars in One Year.

I think everyone can learn something from this great group of talented and enterprising individuals.

Start somewhere, anywhere, but start, and you may find you can have all the success you want.

Have a great and wonderful week.

The Tortoise and the Hare

Posted by evrrp on September 21, 2009 at 5:26 PM Comments comments (0)

When I was a kid there was a Bugs Bunny cartoon of the Tortoise and the Hare. I laughed every time I saw it.

In the original story the lesson that was taught is how slow and steady wins the race.  In the cartoon however the tortoise was not only slow and steady, but very smart. You see the tortoise got all of his relatives to help him.  When Bugs ran past the tortoise all of sudden the tortoise would appear in front of him.

This drove Bugs crazy and he would run faster and faster.   In the end Bugs was exhausted and the slow Tortoise was the one who crossed the finish line.

I'll tell you slow and steady is a great way to keep from burning out.  It's also a great way to get going even when you don't think you are ready to run. But if you want to win you have to be smart as well.

Success in life requires that you develop a plan, and stick to it.  That is the slow and steady part.  But once the plan is in place you need to figure out ways to maximize your efforts.  Many times that means getting some extra help.

No one achieves great success alone. In the Army we had a saying.  There is no I in Platoon.  You'll notice there is also no I in success.

If you run too fast you'll find yourself alone, out of breath, and exhausted.  You'll fall to the ground and watch the tortoise pass you buy.

So set you goals high. Then steadily work your plan.  Then get the help you need, and win your race.

Positive Self Talk

Kojak use to say " Who loves ya baby".  If you are speaking positively to yourself then the answer is you do.   Positive self talk can help keep your spirits up when things are down.  Tell yourself how great you are.  Once you know in our heart how valuable you are it's just one step to showing everyone else.  Positive self talk is only the beginning.  Now you have to back up that talk with positive activity.  If you just said you are the greatest spouse in the world.  Now you have to do something to prove it.  Go ahead wash the dishes, clean the bathroom, and make the bed.  Of course if you already do that, you can do something else. One of the great things about positive self talk is the more you use it the more positive results you'll get.  The key is to do a little positive talk and actively everyday.    So be positive. Then go do something positive. You'll be lad you did.

The Greatest of All Time

Yesterday we lost the greatest entertainer of all time. Michael Jackson lived an extraordinary life. All day today, I listened to accounts of his life from those who knew him. They talked about his extraordinary work ethic. How he would spend more time on one song than most artist today spend on an entire album. His dedication paid off. But his dedication to achieving what he set out to do was not his only great attribute. The kindness he showed to others in need, helped to lift many sorrowful spirits. He made songs that made the world aware of the suffering of others. He did something to make the world a better place. He also asked us to look at ourselves in the mirror and find a way to make a difference. Each one of us is called to something great. If there is anything we can all learn from this man’s wonderful life . It is that with dedication , commitment, and effort we can all live a full life, and leave a legacy for others to enjoy for years to come.

Thank you Michael you will be missed.

Keep Going

If you put a pot on the stove, filled it with water, then turned on the heat. Would you expect the water to boil instantly? Then why do so many people think that success happens over night? Many people may not believe it but time is one of the best tools you have to achieving success. No one can become successful over night. Natural talent is great, but it will only take you so far. You must put in the time to develop and grow. Sometimes things just don't go our way. When this happens many people toss in the towel. They don't persevere through the challenging times. They just give up. They just don't know, it is in the hard times where they develop the most. It is when they drive on, even when they feel they just can't make it, where their tree of success gets the water it needs to grow big and tall.

Keep Driving On and you will see the fruits of your labor!

Mind Control

Posted by evrrp on April 25, 2009 at 11:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Most people don't realize how their thoughts affect them.  They say things like Its raining outside.  It's such a miserable day.  Then they walk around in a funk.  They don't realize that they chose to create a negative mindset for themselves. if they had changed their mind and said life is falling from the sky.  Water is a beautiful thing.  Their day would have been quite different.  Your happiness or sadness are controlled by your thoughts. You can choose your attitude by controlling your mind.

You can learn more about controlling your mind in Make One Million Dollars in One Year and Create Your Own Economy.  The book is now available as a downloadable e-book.

Have a Great and Wonderful Day.
